Broken Wheel
Beauty in the Madness
Author: Johnnie Williams
Life can take you rock bottom…
But help will always come from someplace and someone you least expect
Depression is dangerous. It can bring even the strongest person down to rock bottom. And sometimes, even those considered the strongest do not come out of rock bottom alive. But for those who have survived and lived to tell the tale, they bring with them the process of how they survived, the lessons they learned, and the hope for a better future.
The book Broken Wheel: Beauty in the Madness is a documentation of one person’s journey from depression, addiction to recovery and moving forward in life with hope of better future for himself and for his family—particularly his child. The words in each poem range from a cry for help, a fervent prayer for salvation, and a celebration of redemption, of hope, and of a good life waiting ahead of him and his son.
Despite the medical conditions that plague the author, going back on track toward a better life is a work in progress. Life still throws him some curveballs, but he now has a good grip on himself and the purpose he has in this world that he is able to take the challenges in stride and continue on with recovery. The author hopes that people who are feeling they reached rock bottom may see themselves in his poems and know that they are not alone in their struggles. And if the author was able to get himself out of the darkness, the others would too.
